## Logical Reasoning & Analytical Ability

**Directions for the following 4 (four) items:**

Consider the given information and answer the items that follow:

Six friends namely A, B, C, D, E, and F, belonging to six different cities viz. Ooty, Delhi, Ambala, Jaunpur, Pune and Kolkata, not necessarily in that order, are wearing shirts of six different colours out of yellow, white, mauve, red, green and black. Each of them likes a different beverage from among wine, rum, milk, coffee, tea and lemonade. It is also known that

1. C, who is wearing either green or mauve coloured shirt, is from neither Delhi nor Pune.

2. Person from Ooty is wearing neither green nor black shirt but likes either lemonade or wine.

3. The person who likes tea is from neither Kolkata nor Jaunpur, but he is wearing mauve coloured shirt.

4. D, who is not from Jaunpur, is wearing black shirt.

5. Person wearing red shirt is from Delhi, but he is neither B nor D.

6. E, who is from either Ambala or Jaunpur, is wearing mauve coloured shirt.

7. A, who likes neither milk or rum, is wearing yellow coloured shirt and is from Pune.

8. B and F like wine and coffee, not necessarily in the same order.

**#1. The person wearing red coloured shirt likes**

(a) Rum

(b) Tea

(c) Milk

(d) Coffee

**#2. The colour of the shirt of the person who is from Kolkata is**

(a) White

(b) Red

(c) Black

(d) Green

**#3. If the person wearing green shirt likes milk, the person from Kolkata likes**

(a) Coffee

(b) Wine

(c) Rum

(d) Lemonade

**#4. B is from**

(a) Ooty

(b) Delhi

(c) Jaunpur

(d) Ambala

## General Mental Ability

**#5. Power generated at any time by a windmill is proportional to the cube of the wind speed. The power generated when the wind speed was 5 m/s was 250 Watts. What shall be the power generated when the wind speed is 10 m/s?**

(a) 2500 Watts

(b) 1750 Watts

(c) 2000 Watts

(d) 1500 Watts

**Directions for the following 2 (two) items:**

Consider the following information and answer the items that follow:

1. a, b and c represent ages of Ayush, Brijesh and Chetan in years.

2. a + (1/b) = 5

3. b + (1/c) = 1

4. c + (1/a) = 2

**#6. Who among them is the eldest?**

(a) Ayush

(b) Brijesh

(c) Chetan

(d) It cannot be determined

**#7. Which of the following statements is true?**

(a) Chetan is younger to Brijesh

(b) Brijesh is elder to Ayush

(c) Ayush is elder to Chetan

(d) Ayush is younger to Brijesh

**#8. A number consists of two digits, whose sum is 7. If the digits are reversed, the number is increased by 27. The product of the digits of the number is**

(a) 6

(b) 8

(c) 10

(d) 12

## Data Interpretation

**Directions for the following 2 (two) items:**

The following graph shows the number of defective items identified every month in the monthly lot of 50,000 items produced from January to June.

**#9. The average number of items found defective over the period of six months is**

(a) 82

(b) 83

(c) 84

(d) 85

**#10. In which of the following months, percentage increase in the defective items identified was highest over the previous month?**

(a) April

(b) March

(c) June

(d) February

## Solutions:

**Ans 1 — 4:**

**Ans 1 : (d)**

**Ans 2 : (c)**

**Ans 3 : (c)**

**Ans 4 : (a)**

**Ans 5 : (c)**

Power proportional to cube of wind speed.

250/P2 = 125/1000

P2 = 2000 Watts

**Ans 6 – 7 :**

The three equation can be solved for a, b and c giving their values as a = 2, b = 1/3 and c = 3/2.

Thus Ayush – 2 years; Brijesh – 1/3 years = 4 months and Chetan – 3/2 years.

**Ans 6 : (a)**

**Ans 7 : (c)**

**Ans 8 : (c)**

Let the number be 10x+y.

Now x+y = 7

and 10y+x = 10x+y+27

or y-x = 3.

This gives y = 5 and x = 2. Product of digits = 10

**Ans 9 : (b)**

(50+78+120+150+20+80)/6 = 83

**Ans 10 : (c)**

Clearly in June the percentage increase over May was 300%.
